Big Tex Circle
Dallas, Texas

"Howdy Folks, Welcome to the State Fair of Texas" has been the annual greeting by "Big Tex" to State Fair attendees for many years. Sadly, the statue burned in 2012. An annual installation in Fair Park for the month-long event, the statue claims a prominent traffic circle in front of the venerable Tower Building. As the entirety of Fair Park is a registered historical landmark, all permanent construction must be carefully integrated into the landscape of these majestic buildings. Studio Outside is preparing a design for the circle that welcomes fairgoers, accommodates the logistical requirements of a temporary statue that is 55 feet tall, and celebrates the legacy of this Landmark District for the City of Dallas.
