Situated just off the main quadrangle, the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center creates a significant event and meeting space right in the heart of the vibrant University of Texas at Dallas campus. The design capitalizes on a double row of existing live oaks that form a portal entrance and create an immediately rich and layered experience—creating the illusion that the new alumni building had been there for many years. The oak allee frames an event lawn that hosts graduation galas, donor events, and afternoon study sessions. Shifting planes and bands overlap in the landscape as an extension of the architectural building design. A shaded outdoor living room overlooks the lawn and invites students and alumni to linger and interact.
