Frisco Public Library
Frisco, Texas

The Frisco Public Library features an industrial utilitarian aesthetic while celebrating the site’s location in the Blackland prairie in Frisco, Texas. This prairie inspired landscape design uses planting that is native to the site, provides water collection areas, and acts as an homage to the lush hills that once resided here.

The design represents a broader level of aggregated uses and program movements across the site. An interpretive axis path transects all areas of the site that drives the geometries and uses. The layout of these spaces and the main axis provide many opportunities for ecological functions and people to gather. The primary outdoor classrooms and program spaces create a welcoming environment for staff and visitors. At the terminus of the axis is an amphitheater, pavilion, overlook, and launching point for connecting the regional trail to the broader green open spaces.
