Guao Yue

Landscape Design Intern

Guao, originally from Xi'an, China, earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University. Inspired by his father, a landscape design teacher at a university in Xi'an, Guao learned at a young age that well-designed spaces could facilitate harmonious interactions between nature and society.

When he was young, one of his favorite activities was sitting on a patch of grass and observing how people of all kinds interacted with the surrounding space. He watched elderly individuals constantly seeking seats with backrests, children exploring every nook and cranny of the world around them, and couples searching for their little corner of paradise within the landscape. The way people utilized landscape spaces sparked a strong interest in design within him.

Guao considers ecology a crucial aspect of landscape design studies. His designs aim to solve ecological problems, restore the ecological functions of damaged land, mitigate land erosion and loss, and help regulate the climate to reduce the urban heat island effect.
