Located in the hills of Central Texas, Rocky C Ranch is a hunting camp equipped with an indoor and outdoor shooting range. A winding road leads up the hillside to the compound. Carefully positioning the home minimized the amount of disturbance of the natural setting while keeping the living spaces facing South—taking advantage of the sunny afternoons and southern winds and breeze. Long retaining walls extend outward towards open views. 

The rough textures of the landscape elements contrast with the smooth architectural walls of the home. The existing groves of Mesquite trees create a focal point for the landscape while connecting to the native drifts surrounding the building. In the center is a long resort-style pool acting as an oasis in the dry prairie. A small lawn space in the center is used for a shooting area, as well as a pop-up driving range. Extending out into the landscape is a twenty-foot-tall platform that can be used as a climbing wall, shooting platform or just a place to hang out and look over the Texas savannah scattered with Mesquites and native Hill Country plants.
