Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center
Cedar Hill, Texas

Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center is a three hundred acre preserve of four distinct environmental systems, a habitat for several rare or endangered plant and animal species. Audubon’s mission for Dogwood Canyon is to instill awareness and respect for nature in all of its visitors, especially children, through environmental education in a fragile ecosystem. The design team conducted an analysis of the site’s natural systems and created two overlays specific to Audubon’s program. The design development studies emphasize reuse, recycled materials and products, and stress proven teaching methods for children in natural settings. Experience of Mike Fraze and Andrew Duggan while at mesa.
