North Texas Ranch
This NORTH TEXAS RANCH was called the “quintessential texas ranch” by esteemed architect Michael Imber of San Antonio. Sited on a rolling prairie, the house overlooks the northern end of the Hill Country with long views across natural landscapes that extend miles. The ranch house includes a long curvilinear drive off the farm caliche that sets up a perfect arrival sequence into an arrival court. This compound style house sets itself up with a series of enclosed and open courtyards that have landscape and human spaces protected from winds and critters of the prairie as it comes right up to the property. As with most ranches SO works on, we provided a large flat “back yard” to the west which will allow children and dogs a safe place to roam which they just need a short time outside. The Client continues to build a barn for the family whose interests are engaged in serious equestrian eventing.
