palo Pinto mountains State Park
Strawn, Texas

Studio Outside is working with Bennet Benner Partners Architects in the development of a new state park for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Located two hours west of Fort Worth, Palo Pinto Mountains claims the transition between the cross timbers and the plains of west Texas. This rugged site will provide a great array of recreational and interpretive experiences including canoe & kayak, horseback riding, hiking, and a specifically designed astronomy venue. Lodging will provide a hierarchy of accommodations that range from group cabins to tents and RV’s to rustic back country tent camping. The highlight of the park experience is Russell Creek and Tucker Lake watershed – landforms that create dramatic ridgeline vistas and intimate creek experiences. As a core destination in the Texas State Parks Centennial Plan, this new park seeks to engage visitors with a broad appreciation of water conservation, natural habitat exploration, and dynamic recreational opportunities.
